One of the objectives of the Suffolk Education Foundation (SEF) is to provide tuition assistance to students taking dual-enrollment (DE) classes. Please verify that you meet all criteria prior to submitting the application.

Eligibility –
The applicant shall be a public high school student in City of Suffolk who:

  • will be a junior or senior;

  • will be taking at least one dual-enrollment course in the 2022-23 school year;

  • has demonstrated excellence in academic studies; and

  • demonstrates financial need.

Each student selected will be eligible for SEF-funded tuition assistance for up to three (3) dual-enrollment (DE) classes taken at the high school during the 2022-2023 school year. The award is a grant and not a loan. Notification of awards will be made by August 1. The award will be paid directly to the students' high school at the beginning of each semester. The student selected for funding for the first semester will automatically be eligible for like funding for the second semester as long as he or she maintains a minimum of a “C” average in the funded dual credit class(es).

This application will also screen for eligible candidates for the $1,500 Louis & Mary Haddad Foundation scholarship for college tuition earned during high school. Consideration will be given to high school students enrolled in Math and/or Science dual-enrollment (DE) classes in 2022-2023 taught at either the high school or online/in-person by a community college. Eligible applicants should be planning post-secondary study in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or Health (STEM-H) with career plans in those areas.  The Haddad Foundation Scholarship will pay tuition and may pay for textbooks, equipment, or lab fees associated with qualifying classes taken Summer 2022, Fall 2022, Spring 2023, and Summer 2023.
