The Suffolk Education Foundation each year budgets "discretionary funds" to support unique opportunities for Suffolk Public Schools' teachers and students -- opportunities that do not fall inside school division full-funding guidelines.
SEF also funds annual instructional grants with an April deadline for funding the next school year.
Proposals can request up to $750, and must be submitted at least 30 days in advance.
Requests can be made for, but not limited to, staff professional development, student camps, school club trips, etc. Student opportunities must be connected to participation in a class or school-sanctioned club. Checks will only be sent to the sponsoring organization. SEF will not pay or reimburse individuals.
Each request for discretionary funds must be recommended by either a staff member if a student/parent requesting; or a principal/department head, if a staff member requesting.
